THE VENUE

The IMO Headquarters in London

The International Maritime Organization – IMO is the specialised agency of the United Nations with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships.

The IMO is headquartered in London, on Albert Embankment in a purpose-built building. A major refurbishment exercise, concluded in 2008, has brought the headquarters building fully up-to-date with the latest facilities for conferences and meetings.

The IMO building offers state-of-the-art conferencing facilities including a main auditorium to accomodate over 700 delegates, and several committee rooms, which will allow for opening sessions, four concurrent technical sessions, a poster session, meeting rooms and an exhibition. The venue also offers two coffee bars, a sandwich bar and a restaurant. There are many hotels in the surrounding area with prices ranging from value to luxury accommodation.
